Cottingham Hall and its staff are committed to the maintenance of the quality of our Clients lives through the highest levels of care attainable. We recognise that our clients have the right to personal independence, choice, dignity, and respect and we endeavour to empower our clients at all times to achieve these principles.
Lifestyle
Many decisions on the running of the home are made by the people who live here at their many meetings. The spending of funds, social outings, social functions and many more are on the agenda.
Meetings and decisions regarding these issues are minuted and are always available.
The Residents of the Home contribute to the arrangement of Social activities and a full Social Calendar is available. We encourage the continuance of old hobbies and also the participation in new ones. No resident is expected to participate unless by choice.
Library A comprehensive Library with large print books. Braille and talking books can also be arranged for the blind.
Chiropody, hairdressers – opticians, all Visit the home at regular intervals, private visits can also be arranged
We have a dedicated team of District Nurses and Health Professionals who visit the home via GP Referral. A Health Authority Physiotherapist will attend to your assessed need free of charge.
Staffing – To edit
The home is run by Mrs K Dickinson, a registered manager who also has a Nursing qualification. The Home is staffed by Carers 24hrs per day, many staff hold a Nursing or NVQ qualifications and are certificated safe Moving & Handlers.
Meals
You may eat your meals in your room if you wish, otherwise a dining room is provided. You will be asked on admission about your likes and dislikes and this will be conveyed to the cooks. A menu will be brought to you on the previous day and will state the main meal and also other options, allowing you a range of choices. Tea and coffee are available and will be brought to you in your room if wished. Breakfast can be taken at any time as you may get up when you wish.
Laundry
We have on site laundry facilities and it is advised that all clothing brought into the home is clearly marked, preferably with sewn on nametapes. Alternative arrangements can be made for dry cleanable garments at your expense.
